Dr. Neil Griffin has been recognized as a leading cataract surgeon based on his demonstration of surgical expertise and a continued pursuit of exceptional patient care with the use of advanced technology and surgical techniques.
Dr. Griffin specializes in LASIK, cataract surgery and corneal diseases. Dr. Griffin is a pioneer in endokeratoplasty, a new type of corneal transplantation technique. He has presented study results and his technique to surgeons in both the United States and abroad. As an Ophthalmologist leader in the field he continues to educate local optometrists on the latest advancements of cataract and Laser Vision Correction (LVC).
The National Consumer Advisory Board named Dr. Neil B. Griffin one of America’s Best Physicians in 2021. Dr. Griffin has also been named one of the Top Cataract Surgeons by Precision Eye Services. He has received multiple local distinctions, including “Best Laser Vision Surgeon”, South Strand News Readers’ Choice Award in 2018, “Best Ophthalmologist”, Myrtle Beach Herald Readers’ Choice from 2018 to 2021 and “Best Ophthalmologist” and “Best Laser Eye Surgeon”, Carolina Forest Chronicle Readers’ Choice Awards from 2019 to 2021.
Dr. Griffin received his medical degree from the University of Alabama, School of Medicine where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He served his internship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and completed his residency at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. He received his highly-specialized fellowship in cornea and external disease from the University of Texas in Houston. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
